About Our Program

TriMet's Internships are excellent opportunities to build skills, gain experience, develop connections with industry professionals, and develop work samples for a portfolio. Relevant experience is useful, but most important is a willingness and excitement to learn.

2024 Vehicle Engineering Intern

“My time at TriMet taught me a lot of technical engineering skills and greatly contributed to my personal, social, and professional development. However, the most valuable takeaway from working here is that I am now certain of the kind of job I want. TriMet serves as a role model in how to treat both customers and employees. The healthy work culture and clear, motivating goals this company sets inspire its employees to serve our community. The results speak for themselves. Throughout my career, I will only accept employers that meet TriMet's high standards.”

Thank you so much to everyone who worked with me and shared their expertise over this summer, it really feels like everyone on the team is passionate about what they do and is excited to pass on their knowledge to the next generation of engineers.”

2024 Service Performance and Analysis Intern

“Overall my time here at TriMet was enjoyable. If I could do it again I would. In the future I will definitely recommend the program to friends, and peers interested in transportation or getting a feel for what it is like working at a public agency. I also hope to stay connected with the people that I met here, and stay involved with TriMet as a whole. Taking the bus and riding TriMet as a kid introduced me to TriMet, but my time here helped me to understand and truly see how the agency changes lives and connects people.”
